ERROR: HALデーモンに接続出来ませんでした

debianをtestingからstableにダウングレードさせて日本語環境は復旧したものの、今度はtotemでDVDを再生出来なくなってしまった。再生しようとすると上記のエラーが出てしまう？HALデーモン？Linuxのアプリってここのプロセスがそれぞれ直接proc経由でアクセスしてるのではないの? また別アプリのgxineではDVD再生出来た。同じxineライブラリを使っているはずなのにこの違いは何？

調べたところ本当にHALデーモンというのが存在することが分かった。halというパッケージに該当デーモンプログラムが入っている。推奨パッケージも含めて以下の2パッケージを導入したところtotemでDVDが再生できるようになった。
パッケージ

  • hal
  • hal-device-manager

After downgrading from debian testing to stable,the Japanese environment became working again. But totem doesn't work when I try to play DVD. When I tried to play the message, "ERROR: Unable to connect to HAL daemon" is appeared and exited.
I analysed about the HAL daemon and found that HAL daemon really exists and provided by the package named "hal". After installing hal and a suggested package. I could play DVD on totem.
