白人

相変わらず修羅場の中、先日のラスベガスの学会のスタッフからお前は発表してないから論文集に載せないとか連絡が来た。そりゃ間違いだ！と連絡したところ、座長は誰だ？とメールが来たので、名前は知らんが、白人の女性(a white lady)だったと答えようとしたところ、インド人の同僚が、Noooo!!という珍しい反応をした。聞くに、外国ではwhiteであろうと肌の色を言うだけでNGとのこと。そんなにsensitiveなのか。英辞郎では普通に"a white girl"とか書いてあったから問題ないかと思っていた…。

I got a question about a session chair of my presentation and I was about to answer,"It was a white lady..." but my Indian colleague stopped it. He says it is not good to memtion other pwrson's skin color like "white".
