四声と"ma"

中国語のテキスト、今日は声調(四声)のところだけ読んだ。声調とは読み方のアクセントの一種で同じスペルでもアクセントが違うと別の意味になるというやつだ。声調を日本語に例えると橋と箸のような例がある。声調には四声と呼ばれる４種類が存在する。
四声の例で"ma"(マー)が上げられていた。これを第一声で話すとお母さんという意味になるらしい。そういえば海外でも母親の事をmomと呼ぶけど何か共通点があるのだろうか。
そういえば昔どこかで"ma"について聞いた気がする。かつてもっとも優しい意味合いを持たせる発音は何かという研究があり、その結果が"ma"であった。ゆえにもし貴方が言葉の通じない宇宙人に遭遇し、そしてその宇宙人と友好的な関係を持ちたいのであればあなたは宇宙人に"ma"と話しかけなさいという内容だった気がする。
聞いたのはもう１０年以上前だったと思う、そんな研究が本当にあったのか、今ならインターネットで調べられる。時間のある時に調べてみよう。

I read the section about "four tones" in Chinese textbook. The example of four tones was "ma" in Chinese. When we call "ma" in first tone,it means "mother". And this word is pretty simular to the English word "mom",that also means "mother".
I have heard before that a researcher studied about the most confortable pronunciation of all,and he found that "ma" was the best. So when we meet the alien and if we want be a friend of him, we should say him "ma".
I hard the above thing more than 10 years before. I'm not sure it is really true. But I can confirm now because there is an internet.
